Pets are great at encouraging us to keep moving!

The cold winter months make exercise especially challenging for everyone. Just getting into our gear (hats, mittens, boots, etc) can be de-motivating.  A pet that needs exercise can be a great motivator.  Just spending time with a pet can actually improve mood and be a great distraction from pain!  Their excitement for an outdoor adventure can also be infectious, making efforts to keep moving less daunting and more fun. Whether you`re driving to the (dog)park, taking a stroll to the mailbox together, or trekking the beautiful UNB-Fredericton campus like Lyndsay and Yoshi, your furry friend and any others along for the ride will enjoy the opportunity to get out there and spend some time with you. Planning a route in advance can keep you motivated along the way, and can reduce the chance of over-doing it!  The Arthritis Society has some great information about exercising and pain management available via the link below. Happy trails!
